Business Development Manager

This is a field-based role reporting into the CMO's office.
 
The role will be focused on three key areas of Business Development:
 
  • Building a sales channel for Small and Medium sized business sales in the areas where Swish are building new fibre networks.
 
  • Engaging with local landowners regarding the granting of wayleaves to ensure that the construction of fibre networks can progress at pace.
 
  • Working with communities and businesses that are on the edge of the network to determine the viability of extending the network to these extra properties.  Business cases will need to be created and presented to the leadership team for review.
 
  • Working closely with the CMO and the Management Team during this exciting time in Swish Fibre’s growth and a key member of the team, involved in the development of the business from the start.
 
  • As Swish are a start up the role will vary and the successful candidate may be asked to support several activities as the business evolves.

Business Sales (SME segment)

 

  • Start up a Business Sales operation to create a selling channel for Swish Fibre into the lucrative Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) segment.

  • Build a sustainable pipeline of opportunities to meet or exceed the business targets.

  • Daily engagement with key business influencers in the communities to develop the strong and positive brand presence

  • Effectively identify and close new SME sales opportunities

  • Update the customer and leads database to help support marketing campaigns

  • Manage customer expectation on the network roll out and go live timescales.

  • Work with marketing to clearly define effective campaigns

  • Align with other members of the Swish Team to ensure development of the B2B sales channel

  • Work with team members across swish to develop sales techniques and shape collateral

  • Work closely with the Customer Experience team to ensure new customers are delighted with the Swish service and become Swish Fibre advocates.

 

Network Extensions

  • Work with communities and businesses that are on the edge of the network to determine the viability of extending the network to these extra properties. 

  • Work with the Design Team to identify the viability and cost of extending the network.

  • Build business cases working with the community to determine the potential uptake and present the business case to the SLT for approval.

  • Own and manage the local community engagement throughput the process ensuring that they are kept informed and updated as necessary.

 

Wayleaves

  • Engaging with local landowners regarding the granting of wayleaves to ensure that the construction of fibre networks can progress at pace.

  • Work with the Design Team to identify the areas that are owned by third parties and engage with the landowners in a positive way to optimise the time it takes to obtain wayleaves. 

  • Point of liaison with landlord and oversee the agreement. 

  • Manage landlord meetings / escalations. 

  • Lead the negotiation and settlement of claims. 

  • Acquisition of wayleaves, easements, freehold and leasehold interests

  • Adherence to legal compliance.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Key Experience:

  • Over 3 years’ experience working in either a Business Development or Sales role in the Technology, Media and Telecoms industry. 

  • Working for a challenger brand that has successfully disrupted established players would be useful.

  • Telecoms experience is preferred but not essential.

Professional Skills and Background:

  • Ideally educated to degree level although not essential provided you have several years’ relevant experience is in the TMT sector.

  • Driving licence essential.
